About this Event
Carol Moskot, a resident of New Paltz, NY, and speaker for 3GNY, shares the deeply personal family story of "The Last Letters." She recounts the poignant history of her maternal grandfather, László Braun, who was enslaved by the Nazis and sent to the copper mines of Bor, Serbia, during World War II. Carol reflects on the legacy of her grandfather's final letters, sent to her grandmother and preserved in five fragile postcards. Passed down through generations, these postcards reveal the enduring love between two young Hungarian Jews from Budapest, caught in the turmoil of war, and symbolize the lasting impact of the Holocaust on her family. They underscore the importance of remembering and sharing these stories with future generations.
