Join us for a series of artist-led workshops at Fruitlands as part of The Land Tells Our Stories, a state-wide exhibit of outdoor sculpture.
This workshop will focus on the work of May Babcock and explore her process of papermaking using natural materials and her works’ relation to histories of place and migration. May’s installation, Seaside Chestnuts, on view at Moose Hill Farm in Sharon, tackles the plight of American Chestnut trees and the projected coastlines from rising sea levels, speaking to themes of hybridization and resilience amidst a changing climate.
Using some of May’s own paper making techniques, we’ll be creating our own cast-paper leaves, complete with wildflower seeds and other foraged materials from right on the Fruitlands property! The resulting leaves can be used for other crafts and installations or planted directly in the ground to help create beneficial pollinator habitat!
This workshop is recommended for those aged 12 and up. Advanced registration is required. Tickets to this workshop include Museum admission for the day.
Cancellation Policy: In the event The Trustees cancels a program due to severe weather, low enrollment, or other circumstances, we will notify registrants by email and issue a full refund or transfer to another scheduled program within two weeks of the cancellation. To cancel a reservation, please contact Fruitlands Museum 7 days prior to the start of the program to receive a full refund. Refunds and transfers will not be granted for cancellations placed fewer than 7 days before the start of the program.
