Free program on the Kidnapping of Kitty Payne and her children. On July 24, 1845, five men broke into her cabin on Bendersville’s Bear Mountain. They gagged her and tied her hands and dragged her and her children into a wagon and took them back to Virginia where they had been enslaved and freed by their owner. The kidnapping was arranged by her cousin Samuel Maddox , Jr., who was the nephew of her owner and her father Samuel Maddox, Sr. The program starts at 6:30 and doors open at 6:10 PM.
