Curious about quilting during the Civil War? Quilts were a common household item in both the north and the south and were often treasured family heirlooms passed down through generations.
Join Shriver House guide Gayle Underwood on Saturday, July 18th at 3 p.m. in the Garden Room of the Shriver House Museum for a brand-new program exploring the fascinating connections between quilting and the Civil War. Gayle will discuss the role quilts played during the war in Gettysburg and beyond, including how they helped raise money for the war effort, how material shortages influenced the quilting process, and how quilts continue to tell stories and preserve history today.
This event will take place at the Shriver House Museum, 307 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg.
Tickets are free for Gettysburg History members and youth (K-12), and $10 for general admission. Reserve your tickets here: https://113910.blackbaudhosting.com/113910/Stitched-Through-History-Civil-War-Quilts-and-Their-Stories-with-Gayle-Underwood
