The Jazz Station Jam: A Season of Spontaneous Jazz
Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or you're a seasoned pro looking to stretch out, The Jazz Station Jam returns for the 2026-2027 season on Wednesday, October 14th at 6:30 pm — a welcoming space where jazz is made live, in the moment, together.
The House Rhythm Section:
Jonathan Corona — saxophone, host
David Morgenroth — piano
Eli Hansen — bass
Jay Veach — drums
About the Jam:
Hosted by saxophonist and educator Jonathan Corona, a University of Oregon Jazz Studies graduate with more than a decade of professional experience, the JSJ is built around Corona's belief that the jam session is where musicians truly learn their craft. "It's where jazz musicians learn to listen, take risks, respond in the moment, and find their own voice," Corona explains — calling it an essential part of learning not just the notes, but how to communicate and create music together.
Backing him is a rock-solid rhythm section featuring pianist David Morgenroth, bassist Eli Hansen, and drummer Jay Veach, providing a supportive foundation for players of every level to step up and perform alongside seasoned professionals. As Artistic Director Steve Owen puts it, "We're lucky in Eugene to have such a high-quality jam that features both pros and beginners alike."
Bring your instrument, your voice, or just your ears — the JSJ is a low-pressure, high-energy environment where anyone can play, listen, and connect. Join in on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month; $10 for musicians, $15 for audience members.
