The Invisible Load: Not all of it belongs with you
About this Event
Not all of it belongs with you…
…the birthday gift.…the unanswered email.…the tension in the meeting.…the problem before it happens.
You keep track of the details, the people, the deadlines, the emotions, the logistics and the loose ends. The things that never make it onto a to-do list, but are still the weight you carry.
This is the invisible load. The mental and emotional labour of remembering, anticipating, organising, managing, smoothing, worrying and holding. It’s the constant background hum that quietly consumes energy, attention and capacity.
While anyone can experience it, women often carry a disproportionate share.
Daytime Activity + Cowork (12:00-17:00)
Join us early where we’ll first get introduced to the topic of the Invisible Load by cognitive coach Jess Geary. We’ll enjoy complimentary coffee while networking and discussing with other women in the room who want to reclaim their energy and attention, and direct it toward what actually matters.
Stick around after for a productive coworking afternoon in the cool Tradestars venue.
Evening Workshop (6:00-8:30)
In this thought-provoking and practical workshop, Jess will introduce a framework to help you recognise, name and rebalance the invisible responsibilities you have absorbed, so you can lead, work and live with greater capacity.
Together, we'll explore:
• The difference between workload and cognitive load, and why the second is often what leaves you exhausted.
• The neuroscience behind open loops, vigilance and constant context-switching.
• How invisible load impacts confidence, decision-making and leadership.
• Practical ways to name, renegotiate and rebalance what you're carrying.
You'll leave with:
• A clearer understanding of the mechanisms behind overwhelm, so it stops feeling like a personal failing.
• Practical tools you can use immediately to protect your energy, attention and thinking.
• A new lens through which to view responsibility, leadership and capacity.
