The Importance of Being Earnest presented by Theatre Incognita

Following this spring’s sold-out run of Angels in America, Theatre Incognita returns to the Kitchen Theatre Company stage this August with Oscar Wilde’s brilliant comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.
Jack Worthing has invented a brother named Ernest whose guise he takes when fleeing his country obligations for London. Gwendolyn Fairfax has fallen in love with Earnest. Her cousin Algernon Moncrieff has invented an invalid friend when he wishes to flee London for scapes in the country. Meanwhile Jack’s young ward, Cecily has romantic fantasies about the wicked Ernest. But will anyone end up with their intended against the will of the redoubtable Lady Bracknell?
Subtitled ‘A Trivial Comedy for Serious People,’ Wilde’s late Victorian farce has charmed audiences for 130 years. Incognita updates it to England of the roaring 20s.
