About this Event
Professor Emeritus, Ron Dorr, is frequently described as one of the most memorable and inspiring professors at MSU. As one of the founding faculty for the freshman writing program at JMC, Professor Dorr was integral to developing students' critical thinking and writing abilities. His classes were challenging. GPA's frequently took a dive. Alumni bristle when recounting the workload and Professor Dorr's expectations. Then, they smile when reflecting on what they gained from the experience, his patience, and passion for teaching.
After 30 years as a full time faculty member, Professor Dorr retired in 2003. He went on to teach part time for 17 years. Professor Dorr is an MSU treasure with a love of storytelling. This event will treat participants to engaging stories about James Madison College.

- notable alumni and professors through the decades
- the purpose and evolution of the curriculum
- Professor Dorr's teaching philosophy.
The event schedule:
- 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm - Arrival and Welcome Reception
- 6:00 pm - 6:15 pm - Mid-Michigan Spartans Updates
- 6:15 pm - 7:00 pm - Professor Dorr's Remarks
- 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm - Post Event Dialogue and Departure.
This is a free event. Light fare will be provided for attendees. The event space is generously provided by Chalgian & Tripp Law Offices, PLLC.
Space is limited to 40. If the event is full at the time you attempt to register, please add your name to the waitlist. We use the waitlist to fill spaces created from cancellations. Additionally, the waitlist helps us gauge the degree of interest in our programming.
As with all Mid-Michigan Spartans events, an additional ticket option is available for those who wish to make a donation to support the operations of our club. The donation ticket is NOT a ticket to the event. If you wish to do both, make sure to select a general admission ticket and a donation ticket.
