The Healing Feast - January 2025

The Healing Feast offers food and music for healing connections with self, others, the earth, and the sacred. Singer/songwriter and sacred space facilitator Sari Brown brings this new monthly series to the heart of the state Capitol to share delicious, nurturing, globally-inspired food that is mindful of the earth, along with deep, authentic conversations and Sari’s uplifting, soulful music. This dinner concert experience is designed to include people of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs, identities, abilities, and needs. The theme for this month is “Earthy Epiphanies,” exploring the unexpected “aha!” moments that uncover a hidden truth and change everything. The dialogue will invite us to respond to the question: “When did you encounter or experience something unexpected that radically changed your perspective or your course in life? In what form did this epiphany come to you?”

Featured artist: Jen Sygit, the legendary Lansing-based songstress whose genre-crossing, soulful, sultry, and sweet tunes weave together delicate melancholy with an oft-overlooked beauty to life’s mundane struggles.

The Healing Feast this month is a benefit for Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter (wildoneslansing.weebly.com) to support their work in the Lansing community of promoting environmentally sound landscaping practices to promote biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities.

Menu: Sopa de Mani, a hearty Bolivian peanut soup with chicken, veggies, and toasted (gluten free) pasta. Alternate dietary options: Vegan Bolivian Peanut Vegetable Soup, and Peanut-free Chicken Noodle Soup served at a separate station. (Gluten free, egg free, dairy free, veggie soup option is vegan and chicken noodle soup option is peanut/tree nut free).

Sliding scale tickets (from $7 children's tickets to $55 pay-it-forward tickets) are available in advance or at the door. Through the generosity of participants, free tickets will be made available on a first-come first-served basis. TIME: Doors open at 5:00, dinner at 5:30, concert & dialogue 6:30-7:45.

LOCATION: Stage One at Sycamore Creek Eastwood, 2200 Lake Lansing Rd., Lansing, MI.

BENEFIT: 10% of all proceeds (ticket sales and donations) will be donated to Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter

COVID PROTOCOL: We strive to make this gathering accessible for people with varying needs, vulnerabilities, and comfort levels around exposure to COVID-19 and other illnesses. During the event, we will have a HEPA air filter running and provide N-95 masks for optional use. There will also be space to distance for those who need that option. Prior to the event, we invite you to consider taking a COVID test to help ensure we are protecting and caring for each other.
