This talk is about a town in crisis and the lives of the ordinary people caught up in the plague epidemic. It starts with the first victim identified suffering from the plague in July 1665 in Holy Trinity Parish and follows its course through the town until the last case in November 1666. It discusses the causes of the plague, its treatment and the attitude of the university and colleges to the afflicted in the town. Its main purpose is to look at the individuals and their families affected by the plague, where they lived and how they made a living.
