Dogs have an astounding ability to read our gestures and understand our words, often seeming to know exactly what we're thinking. But exactly how smart is man's best friend? Join Hot Science - Cool Talks for a conversation with , whose research focuses on understanding and explaining canine cognition. Dr. Hare will share the inside scoop on how the dog brain works and how to use his research to raise a great dog yourself. Dr. Hare will be signing copies of his new book, after the talk! to be displayed before the talk.
Dr. Brian Hare is a professor of Evolutionary Anthropology and a member of the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and founded the Duke Canine Cognition Center and the Duke Puppy Kindergarten. Dr. Hare's recent research dives into the minds of working dog puppies to discover what factors influence their cognitive and emotional development. Dr. Hare has co-authored three books with his wife, Vanessa Woods. Their works include the New York Times bestseller The Genius of Dogs, the international bestseller Survival of the Friendliest, and their latest, Puppy Kindergarten, which will be released in August 2024.
