The future of fibre - Contextualising Soil to Oneone (soil) Textile Production in Aotearoa
Hosted by Rekindle Charitable Trust Board Chair Steven Junil Park, this conversation brings together Genevieve Rae (Micro Mill), Gina Russell and Seonaid Burnie (Papahoa Fibreworks), and Ngaio Cowell (Te Waka Kai Ora) to discuss their recently published paper, Contextualising Soil to Soil Textile Production in Aotearoa.
Drawing on the work of Papahoa Fibreworks, the discussion will explore what a regenerative textile system could look like in Aotearoa - one grounded in local fibre production, ecological health, and the relationships between land, makers and community. Together, the speakers will reflect on how traditional knowledge and local systems guide us to shape a more resilient future for textiles.
Whether you're a maker, grower, designer, craftsperson, or simply curious about the future of textiles, join us for an evening of ideas, conversation and inspiration.
