Our Finsthwaite Wild Swim is an easy paced swim walk taking us from the village of Finsthwaite, through some lovely woodland to our secluded swimming spot. Swim the Lakes regulars will enjoy the change of scene here, it really is a little local spot and we know you’ll enjoy swimming here.
From our meeting place we walk up through the surrounding woodland. The woods of oak and birch give way to larch and mature Scots pine along the way and the woodland floor is cushioned with bracken and bilberry. The winding, steady ascent to the tarn above serves as a perfect warm up for the swim ahead. Emerging through the woods and seeing the water is always a treat. It provides the motivation you will need to jump in as soon as you can!
Swimming here is a real treat; it is sheltered and fringed with lilies and the peaty water makes the best tea 🙂 This is an ideal trip for anyone who has done a bit of open-water swimming and who also enjoys a bit of walking. Our friendly guides will ensure your safety and make sure you enjoy your day out.
