The film that turns the familiar into something strange.
About this Event

Step into a world where reality gets rewritten. Lomography Lomochrome Purple produces a complex range of colour shifts which transforms everyday scenes into something unexpected, creating surreal, dreamlike images.

This workshop explores how to use these colour shifts creatively and intentionally. You'll learn what subjects work best, how different colours are transformed and how to compose images that make the most of the film's unique palette. Rather than documenting the world as it is, you will be encouraged to see familiar places in a completely different way.

Everything you need to shoot a roll of film is included. Whether you're new to film photography or an experienced photographer looking to experiment, this workshop is about curiosity, creative risk-taking and embracing the unexpected.

Join Nathan McLune for a down-to-earth, no-pressure workshop where camera settings don’t matter.

This Workshop Is For You If…
  • You've ever wondered what another planet might look like.
  • You're drawn to unusual colours, experimental photography and creative risk-taking.
  • You enjoy exploring familiar places with fresh eyes.
  • You want to understand how Lomochrome Purple transforms different colours and subjects.
  • You prefer learning through hands-on experience rather than theory.
  • You're looking for a relaxed, small-group environment with plenty of individual support.
  • You want to create photographs that surprise both you and the people who see them.

What Makes This Workshop Special

This is a relaxed, hands-on creative experience built around experimentation rather than perfection. With Lomochrome Purple at the centre of the workshop the focus is on how colour, light and subject are transformed in unexpected ways. There’s no pressure to get things “right” only space to explore, test ideas and enjoy the process.

I'll walk you through the basics of using a 35mm film camera. We'll cover everything you need to know, from loading the film to understanding how to focus and meter for great exposures. I'll also share a few examples of what we'll be capturing, so you can see the distinctive looks we'll be aiming for and help you understand how different colours are transformed by Lomochrome Purple.

This is an intimate group, limited to just three participants which means you'll get plenty of one-on-one guidance and support.

Please Note

Film is an unpredictable medium, that's part of what makes it exciting. I'll guide you to well-chosen locations, support your creative process throughout and make sure you have a brilliant time doing it. Results can vary and occasionally a roll won't develop as expected, but that's the nature of shooting film rather than anything you'll have done wrong.

With Lomochrome Purple, some tiny black dots may appear in the lighter parts of your photo. This is a known characteristic of how some scanners interpret this type of film and is part of working with experimental emulsions and not a technical fault.
