About this Event

Join acclaimed vibraphonist , whose work was described by The New York Times as “hypnotizing”, for a transformational sound journey in the beautifully resonant space of The Angel Nyack.

Chris plays the vibraphone - a unique and beautiful instrument - in a singular, virtuosic way using the waves and layers of sound along with his voice to bring listeners into a heightened meditative state where healing, connection, visions, and inspiration can occur. It is a dream-like experience that is at once activating, relaxing, and rejuvenating. Projected visuals enhance this sonically rich and expansive journey.

For this edition of the Dreaming Place, special guest interdisciplinary sound artist and ritualist Zaneta will be helping us build a community ancestral altar. About Chris Dingman

An acclaimed musician of many genres, Chris Dingman has been performing on the vibraphone for 25+ years, including with celebrated masters Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and many others. He brings together this background with a host of studies and influences from around the world, in service of taking listeners on a journey to a transcendent place.

Working in the fields of jazz, experimental, and world music for decades, Chris’s trajectory changed when, in 2018, his father entered hospice. Chris played and recorded meditative music as an act of care for him in his final months of life. This music became the 5-hour extended album Peace.

Since then, Chris has brought his special brand of healing music journeys far and wide, from live sessions at Omega Institute and The Rubin Museum of Art to his regular online series Transformations and Transformations for Grief, his work with the Psychedelic Sangha, music for mediumship, and much more. His critically acclaimed albums Journeys vol. 1 and vol. 2, are described by The New York Times as “hypnotizing,” and by Jazz at Lincoln Center as “absolutely beautiful.”

Chris has presented talks and performances at the Gold Foundation Conference on Humanism in Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (NYC), and written for the Johns Hopkins Medicine blog. He has been profiled by NPR, the New York Times, AMNY, and many other publications, and has received fellowships and grants from Chamber Music America, New Music USA, South Arts, and the Thelonious Monk Institute.

About Zaneta

Zaneta (they/them) is an interdisciplinary sound artist and spirit medium whose work addresses climate care through the sacred, internal, and local experience.

Drawing inspiration from the work of their lola sa tuhód (great-grandmother) as a hilot healer in Iloilo, Philippines, Zaneta’s work invites communities to connect with the sacred in their local wilderness, and explore the diverse and unique ways we can personally express care for our home ecology.

Weaving local field recordings, environmental studies, sound art, community story gathering, and channeled sound, Zaneta creates experiences of deep communion with local wilderness, that build into deeper explorations of ecological belonging and personal stewardship through ongoing community exchanges between land and people.

Zaneta’s work has been presented in spaces such as the Brooklyn Museum, Los Angeles Natural History Museum, and at the Climate Imaginarium on Governor’s Island, and featured on WKNY Radio Kingston. Their past projects Sacred Seasons (2020) and Where Land Meets Sky: Geophonic Transmissions for the Body (2022), were awarded the Brooklyn Arts Council grants.

Currently, they serve as the environmental artist-in-residence at Marydell Faith and Life Center at Hook Mountain in Nyack, NY.

Their upcoming project, Invitations from the Land: the Zena Highwoods (2025), was created in partnership with the Woodstock Land Conservancy and will be premiering on Wave Farm streaming December 21, 2025.
