About this Event
Our name Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund (Farm Grant Application Tour)DETROIT BLACK FARMER LAND FUNDA coalition of three long-standing Detroit urban farming organizations with a collective mission to rebuild inter-generational land ownership for Black Farmers in Detroit: The Detroit Black Food Sovereignty Network (DBCFSN), Oakland Avenue Urban Farm, and Keep Growing Detroit.This event is a celebration of Black farmers and is dedicated to addressing land ownership disparities by helping Black farmers in Detroit secure property through DBFLF competitive Land Grant which open Juneteenth June 19th , 2026 . What is the DETROIT BLACK FARMER LAND FUND (DBFLF)?The Detroit Black Farmer Land Fund aims to address systemic inequities in land ownership by helping Black farmers in Detroit secure property. Since its inception, the fund has played a pivotal role in empowering Black growers, fostering food sovereignty, and creating sustainable agricultural practices in the community.
About the Application Tour
The application tour will stop at various Detroit public libraries, making it convenient for community members to learn about the program, access resources, and complete their applications. These sessions will include:
- Guidance on completing applications to maximize the chances of success.
- One-on-one support from DBFLF representatives.
- Opportunities to network with other aspiring farmers and local agricultural advocates.
- Information on funding, resources, and next steps for land acquisition.
