About this Event
The Designer: DIY Apparel Customization with Cricut
Ready to turn your digital designs into wearable art? Join us at O Street Studios for an introductory workshop where technology meets textiles. Whether you’re looking to brand your own merch or just want to give a thrifted find a second life, this class will walk you through the end-to-end process of using a Cricut machine for apparel.
What You’ll Do
In this intro session, we’ll move from the screen to the heat press. You will:
- Design: Work with the instructor to create a custom graphic in Canva.
- Cut: Watch the machine in action as we send your design to the Cricut.
- Create: Receive your custom design cut on high-quality white, black, or green vinyl (included with your class).
- Press: Learn the professional "weeding" and heat-press techniques to make your design permanent.
The Experience
This is an introductory demonstration-style class. The instructor will lead the way, demonstrating the software settings and machine operation most of the time to ensure you understand the "why" behind every step.
What to Bring
We provide the design software, the Cricut, and the vinyl. Please bring a garment or piece of fabric from home (denim jackets, cotton T-shirts, or canvas totes work best!). We will use your item as a practice canvas to show you exactly how the process works in real-time.
