                                    	About this Event
Public discourse on AI, automation and the future of work is becoming increasingly commonplace; e.g. regular reports in the mainstream media and popular social science books, such as Robert Ford's 'The Rise of the Robots'.
Such accounts are often quite bleak regarding the availability of work and the replacement of humans with AI, digital automation and/or robots. Such discourse may cause understandable anxiety or uncertainty amongst the public, especially amongst young people soon to leave school and their parents.
This interactive round table event is intended to 'de-mystify' and address myths around the present and future of work, highlighting the very human skills that are still needed. It is aimed at careers advisers, young people and anyone interested in how AI may effect work and careers in the near future.
Speakers include: Lisa Chamberlain and Scott Hurrell (academics from the Adam Smith Business School), and Shayla Bletsoe (ASBS PhD researcher, and former careers adviser for Skills Development Scotland).
This event is part of the Festival of Social Sciences. See here for more information: https://festivalofsocialscience.com/events/partner/university-of-glasgow/
