About this Event

Saturday, March 21 – San Francisco Waterfront Photowalk

3:00 PM – Meet at China Basin Park (Welcome + Introductions)
We’ll gather at China Basin Park along the waterfront for a quick welcome, introductions, and a few notes about the route. This is a public event and we expect a large group, so please arrive a few minutes early if possible.

3:00–5:00 PM – Waterfront Photowalk (Approx. 1 Mile)
From China Basin Park, we’ll begin a relaxed-paced waterfront walk heading north along the Embarcadero. The route is approximately one mile and will include frequent stops for shooting, conversation, and connecting with other photographers.

Planned route highlights include:

  • China Basin Park views of Oracle Park and the Bay
  • Mission Creek waterfront
  • Pier 48 industrial textures and dockside details
  • Bay Bridge views along the Embarcadero
  • Pier 70 area
  • Crane Cove Park (final gathering point)

We’ll end at Crane Cove Park, where you’re welcome to hang out, keep shooting, or explore the surrounding area.

This photowalk is open to the public. All experience levels are welcome. Bring whatever camera you love to shoot, whether that’s a disposable, point and shoot, SLR, rangefinder, or medium format.

Event Essentials

As you prepare for the San Francisco Film Photography Weekend, here are a few tips to make the most of it:

1. Keep an Eye on the Weather
March in San Francisco can be cool and unpredictable. You might get sun, wind, and a light sprinkle in the same hour. Check the forecast as the weekend approaches and plan for layers.

2. Comfortable Walking Shoes
San Francisco has hills. Even along the waterfront, you’ll be on your feet for a while. Wear comfortable shoes you can walk in.

3. Bring Plenty of Film (duh)
You’ll have more photo opportunities than you expect. Bring extra rolls whether you’re shooting 35mm or 120. It’s always better to have too much than run out halfway through.

We’d love to see what you create. Tag your work:

4. Hotel Tips
If you’re coming from out of town, consider staying near public transit (BART or Muni) to make getting around easy. Areas like South San Francisco, Daly City, or neighborhoods outside the downtown core can often be more budget-friendly while still being a quick ride into the city.
