The Dark Emporium returns to the Bank of England Museum this October, and this year, it’s an all-day affair. You’ll see the Museum’s Stock Office come to life with a Halloween-themed market selling books and handmade wares from vendors across the UK. From literary apothecaries and graphic novels, to ghoulish stationery and coven magazines, this little market will be an extravaganza to remember.

Alongside the market, explore our new temporary exhibition, ‘After the Fire: Insurance, finance and a rebuilt city’, a life-sized coffee shop and city scene which explores the financial development of London following the Great Fire of London and the market forces which changed the face of the city forever.

Throughout the week including the Friday, we’ll be exploring coffee – the beverage at the centre of the development of London’s financial activity. Plus, the market will be set to the beats of a live DJ set, bringing the immersive market experience to the next level!

Essential information:

Visitors who arrive in costume will receive a free small prize!
Since this is an all-day event, tickets are only recommended for entry after 5pm. While booking is not required, we do advise booking in advance as ticket-holders will receive priority admission throughout the evening.
