About this Event

Helping nursing professionals lead better, fairer migraine care

Designed for nursing professionals involved in migraine, headache or neurology care, this in-person event is relevant to those working in primary care, community services, specialist clinics and wider headache pathways.

The day will combine expert-led learning, peer discussion and practical examples of nurse-led service development.

Please note that submitting an expression of interest DOES NOT guarantee a place. All expressions of interest are subject to approval. Successful registrants will be notified via email.

What the day will cover

Migraine care varies across the UK, and many people still face delays in diagnosis, barriers to treatment and unequal access to support. The programme will explore how nursing professionals can help improve migraine and headache services across primary, community and specialist settings.

Through expert talks, panel discussions and facilitated breakout discussions, participants will discuss current challenges in migraine care, including variation in services, diagnostic delay, health inequalities and barriers to access.

The programme will also showcase practical examples of nurse-led and nurse-influenced service development, with discussion on what helps services start, grow and respond to the needs of different patient groups.

Sessions will explore how evidence, outcomes, patient experience and the RCN migraine nurse framework can help nurses shape services, develop their roles and strengthen discussions with local teams and organisations.

What you’ll gain

Participants will have the opportunity to step back from day-to-day service pressures and consider how migraine care can be strengthened across the patient pathway.

The day will offer space to reflect on current practice, learn from nurse-led examples, discuss common challenges with peers and identify practical ideas that can be taken back into local services.

Participants will also build connections with nurses working across migraine, headache and neurology care, supporting continued learning and collaboration beyond the day itself.

Who is this event for?

This summit is designed for healthcare professionals involved in the care and management of people living with migraine and other headache disorders. It will be particularly relevant to neurology and headache nurse specialists from across primary, community and specialist services.

Learning objectives

By the end of the summit, participants will be able to:

  • examine the leadership role of nurses in shaping high-quality, equitable migraine and headache services
  • apply leadership development and change management principles to migraine service design and improvement
  • evaluate how nurse-led service models, data and outcomes can be used to influence organisational decisions
  • identify practical approaches to reducing inequalities and variation in migraine care
  • use the RCN migraine nurse framework to support role development, service planning and professional conversations
  • reflect on their own leadership practice and identify actions to strengthen influence, visibility and impact

Please note: submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee a place

This summit is free to attend, but places are limited. Completing the Eventbrite form does not automatically confirm your attendance.

Expressions of interest will be reviewed to ensure attendees meet the event criteria and to support a balanced mix of nurses from different roles, services, regions and areas of practice.
