Please prepare one of the sides for one character you may be auditioning for, the files can be found where you sign up for an audition slot. You may be asked to cold read. If you are auditioning for Danforth or Hathorne please use the Danforth side. If you are auditioning for Abigail, pick whichever side with her name as the file name that you feel comfortable with. If you'd like to be considered for any of the Salem girls please use the Mary Warren side. If you are auditioning for Herrick please use the Cheever side. If you're auditioning for Thomas Putnam please use the Parris side. And if you are auditioning for Sarah Good please use the Rebecca Nurse side (the role may be doubled.)
Callbacks will happen at a later date.
Auditions: Friday, Nov. 7 (5:30-7:30pm) and Saturday, Nov. 8 (3:00-5:00pm)

Characters:
Reverend Samuel Parris - Minister of the church in Salem, a widower left to raise his young and sick daughter Betty. Self-righteous, harsh, and controlling. More concerned about his reputation than his daughter's well-being.
Age: 35 to 55
Betty Parris - Youngest of the afflicted girls and Reverend Parris's daughter. Joins Tituba and the girls crying witchcraft. Fearful, nervous, easily intimidated by Abigail.
Age: 12 to 25 (playing the younger end)
Tituba - Reverend Parris's enslaved servant, born in Barbados and brought to Salem. Wary and cautious, aware of her lack of power, exhausted after years of abuse. Spiritual, rooted in a cultural tradition seen as foreign by Salem. Black or African descent.
Age: 20 to 50
Abigail Williams - Reverend Parris's 17-year-old niece and the antagonist. Impulsive, strong-willed, passionate, with a fiery temper. Aware of her own power, ruthless in getting what she wants.
Age: 16 to 35 (playing the younger end)
Susanna Walcott - One of the girls who joins in crying witchcraft. Nervous, hasty, and worried.
Age: 16 to 35 (playing the younger end)
Ann Putnam - Wife of Thomas Putnam. Brittle, fretful, and anxious. Haunted by the loss of her seven children, convinced they were murdered by supernatural means. Grief has made her bitter and resentful.
Age: 35 to 60
Thomas Putnam - Wealthy landowner in Salem. Savvy, shrewd, and political. Uses the witch trials for personal gain, accusing people to buy up their land.
Age: 35 to 60
Mercy Lewis - The Putnams' servant and one of the girls crying witchcraft. Clever and sly, Abigail's friend and second-in-command.
Age: 16 to 30 (playing the younger end)
Mary Warren - A timid 17-year-old servant in the Proctor household and one of the girls crying witchcraft. Easily influenced, she tries to expose the hoax but is pressured to recant and turns on John Proctor.
Age: 17 to 35 (playing the younger end)
John Proctor - Local farmer. Independent, opinionated, and complex. Despises hypocrisy, especially in himself. Tormented by guilt over his affair with Abigail. His skepticism and honesty make him dangerous in Salem.
Age: 30 to 45
Rebecca Nurse - Francis Nurse's wife and respected elder of the community. Pious, kind, patient, and virtuous. Unafraid to voice her opinions and stands firm against fear and hysteria.
Age: 40 to 80
Giles Corey - A farmer. Plainspoken, hardworking, and still physically strong. Relies on common sense over public opinion. Straightforward and unrefined, often speaks before thinking, but has a good heart.
Age: 50 to 80
Reverend John Hale - Minister and expert on witchcraft brought to Salem to investigate. Observant, rational, and faithful. Believes in the trials until he sees them spiral out of control.
Age: 25 to 50
Elizabeth Proctor - John Proctor's wife. Honest, proud, and principled. Rigid in her beliefs, sometimes cold. Deeply hurt by John's infidelity but still loves him fiercely.
Age: 25 to 40
Francis Nurse - Elder and husband of Rebecca Nurse. Honest, respected, and upstanding. Fights to free his wife when she is accused.
Age: 50 to 80
Ezekiel Cheever - Officer and clerk of the court during the trials. Upright and determined to do his duty.
Age: 25 to 60
Judge Hathorne - Judge presiding over the trials, second to Danforth. Confident, resolute, and convinced of his own authority. Ignores opposing views.
Age: 45 to 75
Judge Danforth - Deputy Governor of Massachusetts, presiding over the trials. Commanding, absolute, and self-assured. Unwilling to bend the law or entertain dissent. Uses his power to intimidate others.
Age: 45 to 75
Sarah Good - A homeless woman and one of the first accused. Eccentric and prone to outbursts, she appears briefly in the final scene.
