Age: 35 to 55
Betty Parris - Youngest of the afflicted girls and Reverend Parris's daughter. Joins Tituba and the girls crying witchcraft. Fearful, nervous, easily intimidated by Abigail.
Age: 12 to 25 (playing the younger end)
Tituba - Reverend Parris's enslaved servant, born in Barbados and brought to Salem. Wary and cautious, aware of her lack of power, exhausted after years of abuse. Spiritual, rooted in a cultural tradition seen as foreign by Salem. Black or African descent.
Age: 20 to 50
Abigail Williams - Reverend Parris's 17-year-old niece and the antagonist. Impulsive, strong-willed, passionate, with a fiery temper. Aware of her own power, ruthless in getting what she wants.

Susanna Walcott - One of the girls who joins in crying witchcraft. Nervous, hasty, and worried.
Age: 16 to 35 (playing the younger end)
Ann Putnam - Wife of Thomas Putnam. Brittle, fretful, and anxious. Haunted by the loss of her seven children, convinced they were murdered by supernatural means. Grief has made her bitter and resentful.

Thomas Putnam - Wealthy landowner in Salem. Savvy, shrewd, and political. Uses the witch trials for personal gain, accusing people to buy up their land.
Age: 35 to 60
Mercy Lewis - The Putnams' servant and one of the girls crying witchcraft. Clever and sly, Abigail's friend and second-in-command.
Age: 16 to 30 (playing the younger end)

John Proctor - Local farmer. Independent, opinionated, and complex. Despises hypocrisy, especially in himself. Tormented by guilt over his affair with Abigail. His skepticism and honesty make him dangerous in Salem.
Age: 30 to 45
Rebecca Nurse - Francis Nurse's wife and respected elder of the community. Pious, kind, patient, and virtuous. Unafraid to voice her opinions and stands firm against fear and hysteria.
Age: 40 to 80
Giles Corey - A farmer. Plainspoken, hardworking, and still physically strong. Relies on common sense over public opinion. Straightforward and unrefined, often speaks before thinking, but has a good heart.
Age: 50 to 80
Reverend John Hale - Minister and expert on witchcraft brought to Salem to investigate. Observant, rational, and faithful. Believes in the trials until he sees them spiral out of control.
