Tim Burton and Mike Johnson’s Victorian-gothic stop-motion romance follows Victor, a nervous groom-to-be who accidentally weds a mysterious dead woman while practicing his vows in the forest. Whisked into the vibrant, jazz-hued Land of the Dead, he must find a way back to the living — and to his intended bride — without breaking his accidental promise. Voice work by Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Emily Watson anchors a story that is more melancholy than macabre. Family-friendly and beautifully strange.
