This daylong conference is a continuation of the March 2025 prenatal diagnoses conference held at Notre Dame. National experts in neonatology, pediatric neurosurgery, and other fields will discuss new research concerning primary brain anomalies and apnea, concerns regarding the absence of accurate prognostic information available to parents when a prenatal diagnosis is provided, the impact of prenatal diagnosis on perinatal palliative care, legislation, and guidance regarding Catholic ethics. The program will also include a presentation on best practices in trauma-informed care and support for parents who receive a prenatal diagnosis. Notre Dame alumni, Maureen and Brendan O'Connor will speak about their experience advocating for their son Luke who had a prenatal diagnosis.Co-sponsored by the Office of Life, Marriage, and Family Formation, Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture and the Notre Dame Office of Life and Human Dignity, McGrath Institute for Church Life, University of Notre Dame, and the national Catholic ministry, Be Not Afraid.
