What is the history of democracy after the Athenian experiment, its vestigial presence in Rome, its absence in the Middle Ages until the time of Magna Carta, its limited appearance in the Florentine Republic? What is its importance for the establishment of the American Republic, and as an idea that inspired and shaped the French revolution? Join Dr. Robert Garland, the Roy D. and Margaret B. Wooster Emeritus Professor of the Classics at Colgate University, and author of numerous books, for this look at 'the broken chain' in his "Democracy: From Beginning to Now" series.
