We invite you to gather around the fire with us for:

An Eve of Story and Song from the Bonnie Shoals of Herring
Do you hear the blossombells of spring ringing over the next wavecrest of the year, here on Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok territory? The timeless greening of things is in fertile flow. Everywhere we look, shoots burst forth from dank soil, pulled toward the light of the sun, shaking off crumbs of mycological duff. With Brigid watching from a glade in the heart of the forest, we enter this land’s blessed crosswaters between the wet season’s drenching and the dry season’s early flirtation. We invite you to join us 3/21 and enchant between worlds, as we share storysong rooted in the gorgeous ancestral vernal.
In the Spring Time wood of Old Irish and Scottish stories you were as likely to encounter one of the Sidhe, transdimensional from the otherworld, as one of the Fianna at this time of year. Fionn’s Fianna: those old poetbard, warrior, lovers who came alive in the greening of the Isle, out of doors under the leafy briars. These halcyon days were a time to compose poetry and verse, and practicing the air of seeing, the eponymous inheritance of the Fianna.
It is said of the Fianna that before putting their bodies in service to justice they must master the three strands of formation: the discipline of poetry, the attunement of the ear to music and story, and a kinship with the wild deep enough that the forest itself would not betray their passing. For only a warrior first shaped by memory, rhythm, and landscape could rightly take up the work of justice.
The name Fionn in Irish is often translated as bright, but as is customary in Irish, a kaleidoscope of meanings hide within. The late Bard of Wonderment, Manchan Magan, shared often that Fionn also means bright perception, or more poetically “one who can perceive through this world to the other.” So practiced the Fianna, oldest of earth arts, which gave rise to a poetic potency still resounding throughout centuries and across waters.
So… do please join us for a night of music, poetry, and story to call upon these ancestors of bright beauty and wise justice.

~ 4:30- 6:00pm: Community gathering and music making (bring an instrument and/or your voice to join us in the making of sweet music!)
~ 5:30 - 7: potluck
~ 7 - 9:30 pm: storytelling and song
Please bring:
- a potluck dish, with ingredient label (local / homemade gaily encouraged!)
- bowl/plate/mug/utensils/water
- chair or ground cloth as needed (seating will be ground)
- headlamp
- layers

-These beautiful gatherings have continued to grow over the last three years, and we are so stoked to be tending the fire for community gathering and decolonial ancestral connection with you all. Due to the size, and in hope to better support the gatherings we have reached a threshold where RSVP'ing before hand is becoming necessary. Having a more clear sense of our numbers before hand gives us the opportunity to give our hosts a more clear picture of our numbers, garner support for parking and registration support, and set the space accordingly.
