When they learn the orphanage they grew up in will be closed unless $5000 in property taxes is paid, “Joliet” Jake and Elwood Blues (John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd) hop in their Bluesmobile – a decommissioned police car – to reunite the Blues Brothers band and save their childhood home.
John Landis (Animal House, An American Werewolf in London, Michael Jackson’s Thriller) co-wrote and directed the film, itself based on an SNL sketch written by Aykroyd & Belushi. Keep your eyes open for a slew of cameos ranging from James Brown, Cab Calloway, and Aretha Franklin to Carrie Fisher, Herny Gibson, and John Candy – and the first ever on-screen appearance from a young Mr. T!
