The Blessing Of The Well 2026 - well-dressing day

Our annual well-dressing celebration. We open our doors at 12:00noon and should be winding up around 5:00pm.
The well will be blessed by Druid Avril Banks at 1:00pm followed by a formal opening by the Mayor of Stockport.
Water is the connection that binds us all, from our ancestors, to our children, it flows through our lives and through our bodies. This year’s blessing of the well will be given by Avril Banks, a Druid of many years, who has worked bringing people together in a greater understanding of water and the earth. Formerly a marine biologist, she mixes her love of science with the magic of the universe to bring a unique view of our place in the world. The blessing honour the well, its history and its connection with us all and the waters of the world.
The Stockport Silver Band, Stockport Ukulele Players and Fidlers Fancy Morris Dancers will be performing. Stalls will be selling locally grown plants, cards, paintings, crafts, Chadkirk Comfrey Oil, Elderflower Cordial and a range of Chadkirk merchandise (colouring books, calendars, tea towels and prints). Local community groups will also be taking part including the Chadkirk Vikings; there will be a making and crafting stall and, of course, a tombola!
In the chapel, we will be serving hot and cold drinks, cake and Prosecco. Outside in the gardens, there will be lots going on. You can meet the alpacas (and have a chance to feed and walk them).
