THE BIRDS STILL SING: a community art show
About this Event
Every bird has a migration story. Some leave and come back. Some stay through the cold. Some travel farther than seems possible for something so small.
For The Birds Still Sing, more than 25 local artists were each given a bird native to Utah. Over the past two months, they spent time with that bird, learning its habits and its seasons, and then followed wherever it led them. Some pieces look like birds. Many don't. They're about rest, courage, home, starting over, and finding your way back to yourself.
This is an experiential art process as much as a show. The work is grouped into four routes by migratory season and spread across the rooms of our historic red-brick building. Wander at your own pace.
Also happening that evening:
- Collaborative art station. Add your mark to a shared piece. No art experience needed.
- Community resource table. Information on mental health support and creative programming in Salt Lake.
This is the first in a series of community art shows at Hearten House. We believe healing happens in community, and this is our way of opening the doors and making that visible.
