The Bird Lady's Guide to Florida's Birds

Join us at Save Our Seabirds for one, two or all five sessions! Sarasota is a true hotspot for birds, with more than 320 species living here or stopping by during migration. Each session will spotlight a different group of birds and give you the chance to connect with the incredible avian diversity right in our backyard. Free admission.

• November 8, 2025 - Session ll: Raptors

• November 22, 2025 - Session lll: Backyard Birds & Waterfowl

• February 28, 2026 - Session IV: Ducks & Waterbirds

• March 28, 2026 - Session V: Shore & Seabirds

About Mattie
Mattie was nominated for the Haley Hall of Fame Award – one of Visit Sarasota County’s most prestigious recognitions - and we will find out soon if she wins!
Mattie is a former Connecticut yankee who settled in Florida full-time with her husband in 2014. Here, her fascination with birds grew exponentially upon seeing the amazing species found here. She has conducted over 40 bird-related talks in her home community and for clubs and special interest groups in Sarasota and Bradenton.
