A free clothes swap for all things denim. Adult evening at Southport Market — jeans, jackets, dungarees, anything blue-jeaned. All welcome.

Denim is the wardrobe workhorse we can't quite let go of — the jeans that never quite fit right, the jacket you thought you'd love, the dungarees that seemed like a good idea. The Big Denim Swap is your chance to send those pieces to someone who'll actually wear them, and pick up denim you'll reach for again and again. We all have denim we don't wear. It sits in the drawer, in the wardrobe, in the "one day" pile. This evening is that "one day" — a warm, sociable market swap dedicated entirely to jeans, jackets, dresses, dungarees, skirts, shorts, shirts and every other denim variation you can think of. And a compelling reason: making one new pair of jeans uses around 7,500 litres of water. Giving the ones you don't wear a second life is a genuinely powerful thing to do.

Format 🕔 5:00–6:00pm — Drop off your donations 🕕 6:00–9:00pm — Swap floor open

The Big Denim Swap runs on a simple token system — when you drop off items, you'll receive one token per item (up to 10 items) to spend on the swap floor. One token = one item, and everything is free.

What to bring · Clean, wearable denim of all kinds — jeans, jackets, dungarees, skirts, dresses, shorts, shirts, waistcoats · All sizes, all cuts, all washes, all eras welcome (vintage denim especially loved) · Items in good condition — think "would I be happy to give this to a friend?" · Bring up to 10 items to swap

What to expect · A warm, well-lit market space at the heart of Southport · Refreshments and food available from Southport Market's independent traders · Volunteers on hand to help you find your size or your style · A relaxed, sociable evening — bring a friend, stay a while

What happens to leftovers Nothing goes to waste. Any items not taken home on the night are passed to our local reuse partners for onward distribution.
