The Big Denim Swap
About this Event
Southport's Denim Swap Party.
Every wardrobe has that pair — the jeans you bought and never quite loved, the jacket you've grown out of, the dungarees your kids wore for a season. The Big Denim Swap is where they find their next chapter, and you find your next favourite pair.
Why denim?
One pair of jeans takes around 7,500 litres of water to produce — making denim one of the biggest environmental footprints in fashion. But denim also lasts. It's built to be worn hard, mended, passed on. Swapping is exactly what denim was made for.
How the swap works
- 5pm – 6pm — DROP OFF. Bring the denim you're finished with. Volunteers vet each piece at check-in.
- 6pm – 9pm — SWAP FLOOR OPEN. Browse, try on in the changing area, take home the pieces you've been searching for.
- Final 30 minutes — take what you like. Anything left finds a good home rather than landfill.
Items are vetted at check-in — bring jeans, jackets, dungarees, denim shirts, denim skirts. Clean, wearable, no fast-fashion basics please.
What to bring
- Your denim to swap — clean, wearable, honest condition
- A tote or bag for your new finds
- A voluntary £2+ contribution if you can — supports The Hearth Network's running costs
What to expect
Music, proper changing rooms, hospitality, and a room full of people who actually appreciate a good pair of jeans. A grown-up night out with a purpose.
Why
The Hearth Network is a Southport CIC keeping textiles out of landfill through community swaps and repair workshops. Every pair that finds a new wardrobe is one fewer pair thrown away — no lectures, just style. Any items left at the end find their way to community partners across Sefton who put them straight into the hands of people who need them.
