Please join us this Sunday for a Christmas celebration, as we present our original musical event, “The Babe of Bethlehem.” This is a free event which features words and original Christmas songs sung by stellar performers.
"The Babe of Bethlehem" was in written in honor of the 800th anniversary of the Christmas play, which was started by St. Francis of Assisi.
Featured singers include Michelle Sivori, Ellen Dumlao, Derek Muterspaw, Clare Smith, Christine Fitzgerald, Kristen Orsini, Sean Fitzgerald, Lena Pennino-Smith and Brian Smith. Band members include Brian Smith (Keys), Sister Carol Standerwick (drums), Richard Hefner (Bass) and Michael Leuci (guitar).
Readers include Sisters Mary Anna Euring, Sister Mary Nolan, Sister Barbara Schwarz, Sister Diane Kirwan, Don Cimato, Anthony Pennino, Dominican Associate Suzanne Richards and Director of Pastoral Care Elizabeth Meehan.
There will also be children performers!
The music has been written over the course of five years and now has been performed at parishes and at the Motherhouse! Lena Pennino-Smith, Co-director of the Communications Office for the Sisters of St. Dominic, wrote the story and songs. The songs were arranged by Brian Smith with help from Michael Leuci and Richard Hefner. We are so excited to share this special event that celebrates THE BABE OF BETHLEHEM!
