Historians will note that no major peace treaty, business empire, or great romance has ever begun with the words "want to play in my golf tournament?" I intend to change that. Or at least ruin a perfectly good Saturday trying.

Thank you to everyone for showing up on a snow day last year! We had 36 people golfing last year and it was a blast. This year we picked a time with a higher chance for great weather. Hylands didn't want us back so we're heading to Westwoods.

Expect questionable swing mechanics, a cart cooler more stocked than the Trump family coffers, and maybe Steve in a thong again... if we're lucky.

Bring your clubs. Bring your competitive streak. Bring cash for the skins game you'll insist you understand the rules to.

Details:

Where - Westwoods Golf Course (6655 Quaker Street, Arvada, CO 80007)

When - 9:00 am Arrival, 10am First Group Tees Off

Who - All are welcome, you just need a partner and to register with me by September 2nd. This is a competitive social event that we hope to keep running annually.

Cost - $140 per player ($113 green fees + cart, $27 tournament fee goes towards tournament expenses)

Why - Cause friends are cool and golf is fun

Prizes:

Just like last year, I will be gathering up the best pin prizes I can get my hands on. For those that weren't here last year, that included a $600 discount coupon on Folsom Custom Skis amongst others.

Can't promise anything before I have it but we'll get working on that and some swag like last year.

Betting:

Since we're all degen gamblers now we'll have an additional $50/team pool available to opt into. Once we have numbers/amounts, we can talk through payouts and format.

Tournament Rules:

• 2 Man Scramble Stroke Play Tournament (Duo with lowest score wins)
• Handicaps must be submitted (if you don't have one we will give you one, not your partner)
• Max Handicap = 20
• Expect some holes to have special rules
• Team Handicap Calculations will be done by me and will use this formula

Golfer A is the one with the lower handicap

Then, take 35% of Golfer A's course handicap.

Add it to 15% of Golfer B's course handicap.

Let's give an example.

Say Golfer A's handicap is 8 and Golfer B's is 21.

35% of 8 is 2.8; 15% of 21 is 3.15.

So add 2.8 and 3.15 to get 5.95, and this team's scramble handicap is 6 (round up or down to the nearest whole number).

Post-Golf Details:

After the tournament finishes we will meet in the clubhouse restaurant for some beers/food if you want and announce results. Prizes will be given out for things like Longest Drive, Closest to the Green, and other large group competition items (rules sheets to be provided with each cart at Tournament).
