The Art of Swimming
Beginning at the start of Princess Pier, Matt will explore the fascinating relationship between swimming, art and literature. Discover how swimming inspired celebrated artists such as Georges Seurat and Paul Cézanne, whose works feature on the Art on Your Doorstep trail, and hear stories of writers and poets including Lord Byron, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Agatha Christie and Daphne du Maurier, all of whom found inspiration in the water.
Along the way, you'll also uncover the remarkable history of swimming and high diving in Torbay before arriving at the beach, where those who wish can enjoy an optional sea swim at their own risk.
The walk is approximately half a mile and the event should finish around 7.30pm (including the optional dip).
Meeting point: 6.00pm at the start of Princess Pier (to the rear of Princess Theatre).
Dates: Thursday 13 August and Thursday 20 August.
Book your FREE place (limited to 20 people per evening).
