Close Encounters of the Third Kind follows Roy Neary, an ordinary man whose life changes after he witnesses a mysterious UFO. Soon after the encounter, Roy becomes obsessed with strange visions of a mountain-like structure, an image he cannot explain but feels compelled to recreate. At the same time, scientists around the world investigate unusual phenomena, including power outages, missing aircraft reappearing, and unexplained signals from space. These clues suggest that extraterrestrial beings are attempting to make contact with humanity.
Roy’s obsession begins to strain his family life, ultimately leading him to leave home in pursuit of answers. His journey converges with that of Jillian Guiler, a mother whose young son is abducted by the same mysterious forces. Both are drawn to Devils Tower in Wyoming, the very shape from Roy’s visions. There, the government has secretly prepared for an alien encounter.
