The Art of Now; Grayson Perry to Banksy, David Mach to Ryan Gander, Jack Vettriano to the latest Turner Prize-winner.
This illustrated talk by Art lecturer Adrian Sumner takes a fearless look at the Art, of all kinds (Painting, Sculpture, Assemblage, Land Art, Public Art, Illustration, Photography, Film, Album covers(what's an Album, dad?) of Now.
What's happening in the risky world of Modern Art sooooo Modern it might even shock the unshockable folk of today.
Of course, there's always the risk that it might look old-fashioned, or even (perish the thought) unfashionable, but it's a risk we're just going to have to take. We owe it to ourselves, or, even, Posterity.
Or it might just be a bit of fun.
For intrepid seekers of truth, or anyone who 'cant buy a thrill' (small prize for those who get the reference, without googling it).
Tickets purchased in advance are £8 including tea and a biscuit before the lecture starts. Tickets on the door are £9.
Adrian is a very engaging and knowledgeable speaker and has lectured at universities, on cruise ships and has undertaken Study Tours with groups to many European destinations.
