About this Event

Sometimes making better photographs begins simply by slowing down enough to notice.

Join photographer Lucy Sager of Field Notes Photography for a relaxed 90-minute photo walk through the Alberta Legislature grounds.

We'll wander together, looking for interesting light, reflections, architecture, gardens, details and the small moments we might normally walk past.

Along the way, Lucy will share simple photography prompts and ideas around composition, perspective and seeing more intentionally with plenty of time to make your own photographs, ask questions and connect with other photographers.

This is a photo walk, not a technical photography class.

You don't need an expensive camera or a particular level of experience. Bring your DSLR, mirrorless camera, compact camera or phone. What matters most is that you're curious and want to spend an evening making photographs.

We'll explore:

• Noticing light, shape, colour and detail
• Finding compositions in everyday places
• Changing perspective and slowing down
• Photographing a sense of place
• Making photographs alongside other curious people

Who is this for?

Beginners are absolutely welcome. So are experienced photographers looking for a reason to get out with their camera, try something different or meet other people who enjoy photography.

The group is intentionally limited to 8 participants so we can wander together without feeling like a tour bus has arrived. 😂

What to bring

Bring whatever you like to photograph with, comfortable walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather and your curiosity. We will meet in front of the QE Building to start.

Weather: This event will run in light weather, which can make for wonderful photographs. If conditions are unsafe or severe enough that the walk cannot reasonably proceed, participants will be contacted about rescheduling.
