BIBLICAL CONVERSATIONS
Morning Workshop: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
2 Samuel 12:1-31 Prophet Nathan rebukes King David
Pastor Daryl Waters will facilitate a conversation about accountability based on the following biblical narrative. Participants will consider how accountability shows up in this text, in their communities, and in their own lives.
Lunch Break: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
WHAT WE CAN SAY FROM HERE
Afternoon Workshop: 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A writing workshop grounded in accountability, compassion, and creative practice.
Lara Naughton will facilitate a writing workshop. Participants will
· write from personal experience about an impactful experience that sparked change
· practice shaping their experience through creative writing
· explore multiple truths within the same event
· engage in guided, invitational writing exercises and optional sharing
· leave with a draft to continue developing
No prior creative writing experience required.
We will provide writing supplies, and you’re welcome to bring your own if you like! You are invited to register for one or both workshops.
If you plan to attend both workshops, there will be a one-hour lunch break.
FACILITATORS
Daryl Waters
After nearly three decades of incarceration, Pastor Waters emerged a spiritual leader. He was called to ministry in 1995, and he earned a BA degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007. He co-pastored a church inside Angola for over twenty years and is now co-pastoring a church in Baton Rouge, LA.
Lara Naughton
Lara Naughton is a writer, educator, and certified compassion trainer with extensive experience leading workshops for people of all ages, including in schools, prisons, and corporate and community settings. She is the founder of the Compassion Program at Angola Pr*son and the author of The Jaguar Man.
