Singapore to Host Landmark Southeast Asia Reunion of India's 1983 World Cup Heroes

Cricket fans in Singapore will have the opportunity to celebrate one of the sport's most iconic achievements as the Mariners Cricket Club Singapore presents The '83 Legends Tour of Singapore, taking place on 7 and 8 August 2026.

Marking the first time the heroes of India's historic 1983 Cricket World Cup winning squad reunite for a tour in Southeast Asia since their triumph, the event will bring together legendary cricket icons, business leaders and global maritime executives for a special celebration of cricket, leadership and teamwork. The tour will feature legendary cricketers including Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Mohinder Amarnath.

Friday, 7 August 2026:

An Evening with the '83 World Cup Legends

Orchard Hotel, Grand Ballroom, Singapore, 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm

The tour opens with the Grand Gala Dinner, welcoming more than 600 guests from the sporting, corporate and maritime communities. The evening will feature an interactive live conversation hosted by a celebrity sports anchor, offering attendees the opportunity to hear first-hand reflections and stories from the players behind India's historic 1983 World Cup triumph.

Friday, 7 August and Saturday, 8 August 2026:

Leadership Sessions

Alongside the gala festivities, the tour will feature interactive 90-minute leadership sessions designed to translate lessons from elite sport into practical insights for business leaders and organisations. The sessions will explore themes including goal setting, overcoming challenges, teamwork and motivating high performing teams.

Saturday, 8 August 2026:

Legends vs Mariners Match

The sporting centrepiece of the tour takes place on Saturday, 8 August, with the highly anticipated Legends vs Mariners Match.

This showpiece match will integrate with the annual Mariners Premier League (MPL) cricket tournament, which features 61 participating teams competing across corporate, open, women's and junior divisions.

Highlighting Singapore's digital connectivity and pivotal role as a global maritime capital, the match will be live streamed directly to more than 2,000 commercial ships out at sea, connecting the celebration with the international maritime community.
