About this Event
Description
A year ago on June 15th , Omotesenke Domonkai Northern California Region celebrated its 50th anniversary. At that time, Omotesenke was granted June 15th, 2024 as “ Omotesenke Day” , by former SF mayor London Breed. In order to celebrate and appreciate Omotesenke Day, we are hosting a public tea ceremony-CHANOYU gathering on June 15th, 2025 in Japan Town, San Francisco.
CHANOYU was established by the first grand master and founder, Sen no Rikyu in the 1500’s.
According to Rikyu, tea is perceived by your heart, rather than your eyes. This has become the fundamental basis of Omotesenke style of CHANOYU.
Please join our anniversary CHANOYU gathering on June 15th! We will serve you a bowl of tea and some okashi sweets. We will present Ryurei style CHANOYU with heartfelt gratitude, while we celebrate the Omotesenke day together.
