What will I be doing in the class?
Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cake facts, decorating techniques, and you will be decorating your very own cake that you will take home with you that day.
Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?
Yes! Many parents or practicing cakers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during through our website.
Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name! Please not the link for the DIY kits is the same for cookies and cupcake kits.
Do I need to know how to bake?
Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cupcakes pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and creating fluffy cupcakes!
What will we learn in class?
You’ll learn what goes into preparing buttercreaml icing, the value of different buttercream consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cupcakes look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, florals, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!
What do I need to bring?
Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) cakes. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos!
What age is best for cake classes?
Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 15 will need a parent taking the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home.
Can just my child take the class?
We ask that all parents also attend the classes with their children under 15. For children over 15, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 1.5 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. A parent must also purchase a ticket and take the class as well - but I promise you this - it's super fun for all involved!
What will I bring home?
By the end of the class, you will have created a gorgeous cakes in their own box ready to gift or devour. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cupcakes at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!
Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?
You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 10 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!
Where are the classes located?
This class will be held at The Hub in Anoka, MN - that address is 623 E Main St, Anoka, MN 55303.
I signed up for a class but can't make it?
:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 7 days prior will be issued a class credit redeemable for up to 1 calendar year from the credit issue date.
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with buttercream icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a good attitude! Cake decorating is fun, but also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating a delicious cake!? That’s what Sweet C's Confections is all about!
These classes are based in Anoka and cater to the beginner caker or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cupcake decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cupcakes (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 1.5 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cake!
A little about me – I’ve been baking up tasty sweets since I was 3 years old with my grandpa – and I’ve not put down the flour and sugar since! I picked up a piping bag about 3 years ago and haven't looked back! My favorite themes to decorate are anything baby and wedding related – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making edible art for special occasions?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to follow our Eventbrite page!
Allergens: Heads up – these cupcakes include the following ingredients: Gluten, Dairy, Egg
Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Tree Nut, Soy
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your Eventbrite fees.
Classes with attendance below 5 people will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies)! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 5 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!
Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
Questions? I have answers (or I’ll make up some really fun stories at least)! Reach out to me or check out some of my work on the following social media profiles (and hey – give me a like or follow – I’d love your support!). If you need to reach out directly, below is my email as well.
