About this Event
Join your fellow SF Bay Area Longhorns in celebrating Texas Independence Day at Capelo’s BBQ in Redwood City on Sunday, March 2nd. We’ll be there from 12:00pm-2:00pm to ‘break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made [our] education possible!’
Reserved seating is limited, so please RSVP! RSVPs will guarantee you access to reserved seating as long as you arrive by 12:30pm (after which, we will open up available seats to anyone first-come, first-serve). Everyone is welcome to place their own food/drink order and join the chapter in our reserved seating area. We hope to see you there in your Burnt Orange attire!
About Texas Independence Day:
Texas Exes around the globe celebrate our University of the First Class on Texas Independence Day, March 2nd. In 1900, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: "Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible."
Constitution of the State of Texas (1876) Article VII, Section 10: The Legislature shall, as soon as practicable, establish, organize and provide for the maintenance, support and direction of a university of the first class, to be located by a vote of the people of this State, and styled "The University of Texas," for the promotion of literature, and the arts and sciences, including an agricultural and mechanical department.
