Come and join me for a fun day learning how to create your own Highland Cow sculpture from terracotta clay. No experience necessary.Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and qualified art and design teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
This workshop is designed to be a relaxed, friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. During the day, you will learn how to hand-build your highland cow sculpture using traditional techniques. I will take you through each stage step-by-step and will support you all the way.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the workshop. The only thing you need to bring is a packed lunch and wear old clothes or bring an apron.
After the workshop, I will carefully take your sculpture home and fire it in my kiln. These sculptures are not glazed as the terracotta will age beautifully in your garden over time. Your sculpture will be ready to collect approximately 6 weeks after the workshop from the Walronds. I will let you know the date and time. Please keep an eye out for the emails or contact me if your email address changes.
NB I am happy to store your work for 6 months after the collection date, after which time it will be donated to charity.
