🖤 H.E.X. Collective LLC — Dark Art Market
March 29, 2026
We recognize Minneapolis is living through an intense and historic moment — with large federal immigration enforcement deployments and ongoing protests that are shaping the social landscape of our city.
In light of these conditions, H.E.X. Collective LLC is keeping our vendor application period open for a generous ~20-day window to give space for artists and makers who may be affected by current events to apply. We want to ensure that this process remains accessible even as community attention and capacity are stretched by real-world pressures.
✨ About the Market
The Dark Art Market will take place on March 29, 2026. We are curating a diverse lineup of 13 vendors creating work that engages the strange, the transgressive, the poetic, the uncanny.
Tenebrae: An Unholy Market of Dark Art
Tenebrae is a curated dark art market taking place on Palm Sunday, March 29—a day traditionally associated with procession, power, and devotion. We’re reclaiming that moment to honor something else entirely: art as resistance, gathering as care, and darkness as a place of truth rather than fear.
In a political and social climate defined by control, surveillance, erasure, and exhaustion, dark art has always been a language of survival. It names what is hidden. It holds grief, rage, humor, and tenderness at once. It refuses to sanitize reality for comfort.
This market brings together artists and makers whose work lives in shadow—gothic, macabre, ritualistic, surreal, confrontational, and deeply human. Tenebrae is not about shock for shock’s sake. It’s about seeing clearly in low light.
On a day historically tied to obedience and authority, we gather instead in solidarity, autonomy, and creative defiance. We believe art matters most when the world feels unstable—and that choosing to support artists, community-run spaces, and one another is itself a quiet act of resistance.
Tenebrae is a space to linger, connect, and remember that darkness is not the absence of love—but often where it learns how to survive.
✨Our Values
H.E.X. Collective LLC stands for community, solidarity, and mutual respect.
What matters most to us is how we treat each other. We believe in the inherent dignity of all living beings — regardless of where they were born, the ethnicity they belong to, or how they gender-identify. We celebrate our differences for the same reason many of us love the color black— it is the sum of all colors.
We are explicitly anti-ICE: we oppose oppressive immigration enforcement operations and the unnecessary harm they inflict on communities, migrants, neighbors, and families. We affirm the right of all people to live with safety, autonomy, and respect.

✨What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from artists, makers, and vendors whose work:
• explores the dark, subversive, uncanny, surreal, or transformative
• reflects unique perspectives and voices from across communities
• contributes to an inclusive and respectful marketplace
Tenebrae is first and foremost a market and a gathering centered on dark art. While it exists within a broader moment of social and political tension, it is not a mutual aid event. It is a space for artists to share work, for patrons to engage thoughtfully, and for community to gather around art that speaks to the times we’re living in. We hope you’ll join us.
