This course is designed to guide participants through the process of writing a compelling ten-minute play. Over five sessions, participants will explore the fundamentals of playwriting, from idea generation to a polished draft. Each session will include a mix of discussion, writing exercises, peer feedback, and practical techniques.
INSTRUCTOR: Kate Rich
DATES: Five sessions March 25, April 8, April 15, April 29, May 5.
TIME: Tuesday, 6PM - 9PM
PLACE: Pier One Theatre office (unless otherwise designated)
INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION: Includes one 30-90 minute individual writing consultation with Kate, and a 30 minute formatting consultation.
CLASS SIZE: Limit 12 (this class is open for adults or youth with instructor permission.)
COST: $75
Students wishing to submit plays to the Ten-Minute Play Festival at Pier One in August 2025 may use the prompt “STRANDED” as they write their play. (If you have an idea for a play already, we can talk about how it might fit this theme!)
