This is a ten week printmaking class for teens. An image will be provided for each method, but students may bring in a specific picture if desired. Students will explore several types of printmaking including:
Watercolor Monoprints - a print painted with watercolor on plexiglass which is then transferred to wet paper for the final image.
Gelli prints - using a soft silicone plate that allows you to create a monotype without a press.
Lino print - a form of printmaking cutting into a linoleum which is then inked and a piece of paper is placed over it and then it is run through a printing press or pressure is applied by hand to transfer the ink to the paper.
Image transfers - drawing an image on vellum that will then be transferred to wood using glue to help transfer the image to the wood.
Dry point etching on plexiglass - an intaglio printmaking method that involves scratching an image into a plate with a pointed tool. These lines create a burr that holds ink, meaning the print reveals the drawing.
