Teachers' Night Out is a program series for professional educators.
When the sun goes down, a different world wakes up. Join us for an evening adventure into the hidden lives of nocturnal animals as they emerge from their daytime shelters and take over the park. Together, we'll investigate the remarkable adaptations that help night creatures thrive in darkness-from sensitive whiskers and nimble paws to eyes designed for low-light environments. Outdoors, we'll practice using vocalizations to draw curious raccoons in for a respectful, close-up look and explore how these clever mammals use sound to communicate. We'll also shine a light on a growing challenge for nighttime wildlife: light pollution and its impact on animal behavior and survival. Teachers will leave with fresh, classroom-ready ideas for bringing the world of night creatures to students, helping them connect science, observation, and empathy to the wonders of the nocturnal world.
