The Way of Tea is a ceremony about finding harmony and peace in everyday life through the experience of a meditative tea session.
About this Event

Cha Dao translated as “The Way of Tea” is a Tea Ceremony that comes from ancient China. It has been used since its discovery by Sages as a form of medicine and a way to cultivate awakened presence. Tea itself has been considered a plant teacher for over 4,000 years and its use in ceremony cultivates a sensory exploration of presence. The power of this awakened presence can then lead to profound insights and assist one in connecting to that innermost self on a soul level.

The power of this plant medicine in ceremony is enhanced by spacious silence and light meditative music as you sit, be, and receive living tea which will then support you in sustaining a deep state of meditation, awareness, and healing. After the ceremony is complete there will then be time for reflection and sharing of any insights.

Join us and connect to Living Tea in a deeply nourishing way that may clear your mind, light up your heart, and awaken your soul.

WHAT IS TEA

There are a lot of things out there called “tea” – herbs, roots, mushrooms, flowers, you name it. But in fact, most of those are not tea. Tea is a plant that comes from a group of plants in the Camellia family and seeped in hot water. Anything else is not actually tea but an herbal infusion known as “tisane”. There are many types of teas that all come from the camellia plant and channel their own unique essence. Though all tea comes from the same plant family there are many different types of tea that come from the way in which they are processed and grown by human hands. These include White, Green, Yellow, Red, Black, and Puerh tea.

All the tea that we use in ceremony is from the Camilla Tea plant and the type of tea will differ with each session. This is done through meditation and intuitive guidance on which type of tea will best support the group attending any particular session.

LIVING TEA

For all of our tea ceremonies we serve what is known as Living Tea. Most commercially available teas today are produced without respect for the plant or the planet. Laden with chemical pesticides and cramped in tight rows on plantations, these tea trees grow to their (stunted) full size bearing only a fraction of the flavors, health benefits, and vital energy of a happy tea plant.

Living Teas are defined by:

- Seed propagation, rather than grafted clippings and have plenty of room to grow

- Biodiverse environments and growing conditions

- Free of any chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers

- No artificial irrigation

- Healthy relationships and living wages for all involved.

The beauty of serving Living Tea besides all of the above is that it also has greater amount of life force energy because it is allowed to grow and be harvested in a way that is natural to its essence. The “spirit” of the tea can then be more easily heard, felt, and experienced because of this.

WHAT TO BRING

Yoga bolsters will be provided though if you prefer your own meditation cushion you are welcome to bring it. Please wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to disconnect from phones for the duration of our session. If you have any physical needs that may inhibit your ability to sit, please communicate this with Holly before you sign up.
