About this Event

KEMZA is a feature-length essay film built from four years of fieldwork across four disappearing wetland ecosystems: Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin, Ecuador's Guayas mangroves, the Florida Everglades, and the absent Beljarica swamp buried beneath Belgrade. A cinematic travelogue through worlds at the edge of legibility, the film follows fishermen, philosophers, and nonhuman ecologies caught between ecological collapse, narcotrafficking, and urban erasure. This will only be a WiP clip for the B2 spatial audio forward event.

Passing is a six-minute digital storytelling piece made up of six movements. It combines data sonification with field recordings from Tennessee to explore transgender experiences in areas like employment, education, healthcare, housing, safety, and community. Instead of following a traditional story, the piece creates an ambient listening space using layers of tones, processed environmental sounds, and sonic events shaped by data. These sounds appear, overlap, and fade over time. Patterns from survey data influence changes in rhythm, density, and timbre, letting real-life conditions be heard without turning them into straightforward facts.
