Justin Gomlak Greer’s journey is a masterclass in artistic evolution. From center stage on Broadway to the heart of arts education, Greer has built a career defined by versatility, passion, and purpose. A trained opera singer, retired Broadway dancer and actor, and now a respected arts educator and DEI practitioner, Greer brings a wealth of experience to every role he inhabits—onstage and off.
Over a remarkable 15-year Broadway career, Greer performed in iconic productions including Annie, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Anything Goes, Shrek the Musical, Urban Cowboy, Seussical the Musical, The Producers, and Annie Get Your Gun starring Bernadette Peters. Whether swinging multiple roles, serving as dance captain, or stepping into lead characters like Leo Bloom and Carmen Ghia, Greer’s dynamic presence and technical mastery made him a standout in every ensemble.
Beyond Broadway, his credits span City Center Encores!, off-Broadway plays, national tours, and regional theatre, with favorite roles such as Batboy (earning a BATCC Best Leading Actor nomination), Matt in The Fantasticks, and Will Parker in Oklahoma. He’s also shared the stage with the Radio City Rockettes and brought beloved characters like Aladdin to life at the New Amsterdam Theatre.
Today, Greer channels his performance expertise into education and advocacy. He’s taught and led programs for organizations like Camp Broadway, Broadway Classroom, BRAVO TV, and NYC public schools, and served on the faculty of the Trevor Day School and Manhattan’s Dalton School. Holding a BFA from Carnegie Mellon and an MA from NYU, he now serves as director of education and community engagement at Sarasota’s Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
In this Talkback Tuesday interview, Greer reflects on his transition from Broadway to the classroom, the power of creative mentorship, and how arts education can shape inclusive, empowered futures for the next generation.

Justin will be in conversation with Arts Advocates member Nanette Crist. A retired lawyer, Nanette worked as a columnist for the Charlotte County edition of Florida Weekly while living in Punta Gorda. She quickly discovered how much fun it is to talk with people about their lives and experiences. In Sarasota, Nanette has interviewed nationally known playwrights, including Lauren Gunderson and Bess Wohl, in connection with Urbanite Theatre’s Modern Works Festival. Nanette also participated in Arts Advocates’ Art Talk series, interviewing artists Truman Adams, Patricia Anderson, and Chalk Festival founder Denise Kowal.
This event is in the Arts Advocates Gallery, located inside the Crossings at Siesta Key mall, 3501 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. Enter the mall through the doors next to Connors Steak & Seafood and turn left.
